I'm proud to have the privilege of representing you in Springfield. Since 2006 Illinoisans
have seen their state government go through a roller coaster of events. It is clear that
the system is broken, but I am pleased to report that we are taking steps in the right
direction.
During my first term I fought for historic campaign contribution limits and the right for
our citizens to recall their Governor in the future. I'm happy to say that both of those
laws have passed.
I will continue working to promote job creation in our community and use my business
background to bring about reform to Illinois' bureaucratic style of state government.
Times are tough right now and the last thing that working families need is a tax hike.
That's why I VOTED NO on the income tax increase. That's why I fought for a review of
our state's accounting procedures and to eliminate unnecessary layers of government.
I ran to represent our community in the State Senate on a platform of easing traffic
congestion in Lake County. As Vice Chairman of the Transportation Committee, I secured a
record amount of road money for Lake County. Of the $300 million for Lake County, $200
million is appropriated for the 31st Senate District. I am proud of our successes on the construction that has taken place, and the road projects that are scheduled to begin.
Since taking office my goal has been to continue the legacy of effective bi-partisan
leadership established by my predecessor, Adeline Jay Geo-Karis. Please take a moment to
read more about the progress we have made in Lake County.
